New Year’s Eve – Belltown Edition

I know many of us are hesitant to head out in the hood on New Year’s Eve. Sure, it is amateur night and the bridge, ferry and freeway crowd tends to come out in droves. But I promise you, there are events that cater to a more civil crowd, and are sans cover fee. Plus, you can step outside at midnight, as most of Belltown has an awesome view of the Space Needle’s fireworks.

Here’s a list (in no particular order) of what’s happening in the hood on the big night. If we missed something, leave a comment and we’ll be sure to add it.

Clever Bottle – CB is throwing a 50′s themed swing dance party, with a champagne toast at midnight. Dress up in your 50′s attire and get ready to dance the night away. Even better, no cover.

Pintxo – Pintxo has a (reservation only) 5 Course Chef’s Special Dinner with two seatings, 6:30pm and 9pm. It also includes a glass of champagne at Pintxo’s sister bar, The Upstairs. Check out the menu here, as it sounds heavenly and at $35/person, this dinner won’t break the bank.

The Upstairs – Belltown’s newest spot for craft cocktails and microbrews is a relaxed, no frills, just hang with your friends, oasis spot this New Years. And, of course, no cover.

The 5 Point Cafe – The 5 Point has a perfect view of the Needle (I wonder who will end up watching it through the periscope in the men’s room?) and a huge new patio to accommodate the party goers. No cover, just drinking and normal 5 Point debauchery. Plus, you don’t have very far to go when it’s time to sober up with hashbrowns and eggs.

The Rendezvous - The Jewelbox has two shows this NYE. Tempting Tarts Burlesque for the early show and Absolute Monarchs with Deadkill and Cold Cold Ground will be ringing in the New Year. While ticket will set you back just $7 bucks, the bar is open without cover and sure to be a good time.

Belltown Pub - Want to enjoy a great selection of draft beers, or possibly a tasty Moscow Mule? The Pub might be your spot. You can reserve a booth for $40, with a dedicated server or just walk in for first come first served seating. There is a cover charge of $10, but if you’re a neighborhoody, and can show you’re in the 98121, you get in free. (Great way to deter the 1st Ave crowd?)

Juju – This 2nd Ave spot says crackheads and douches are not welcome, according to their website. Also, no cover and DJ Jay Battle is spinning tonight.

Rob Roy - If you love 2011 jams, this is your spot. Rob Roy will be playing popular tunes from 2011 and a complimentary drink (probably not champagne) will be available at midnight. And, of course, no cover.

The Coterie Room – Looking for something a bit more swanky? The Coterie Room is hosting a 4 Course Chef’s Dinner and Cocktail Party. The dinner, at $95, is sold out but you can be added to the wait list. A few tickets remain for the cocktail party, at $125/person, but they do include unlimited top shelf drinks – so, if you drink like my group of friends, it’s pretty much a steal.

Spur - This Belltown gastropub is hosting a 3, 5 or 8 course dinner. You can pair it with wine, cocktails to really customize it. They also will have a champagne and caviar service, plus a live feed of the Space Needle’s fireworks projecting on their wall.

Palace Ballroom – Feast on a 5 Course Tom Douglas Special Menu, and then dance the night away to the Portage Bay Big Band. Tickets are $75, include dinner and champagne.

After you’re done with your party plans, and need some food in the belly, The Lucky Diner, Hurricane, and The 5 Point Cafe are open all night long on New Year’s Eve.

But, if absolutely must leave the hood this New Year’s Eve, please make sure if you’re drinking, you’re not driving. Instead, try a black car service (surprisingly just a few bucks more than a cab.)

Uber - Brand new cars, with state of the art technology. You can use your smart phone and track where your driver is located and when your driver will arrive, so you will not be stuck waiting in the cold (or rain.) In addition, we have a $10 off coupon for all new users.

Crown Black Car - Be dropped off or picked up in style. Plus, Crown Black Car drivers are known for their great music selection and you might even be able to drop their name to the bartender at your drop off point for bonus points.

CarGozz - Drove your car anyway, and you ended up drinking? Maybe  you need your car back at your place? CarGozz will drive your car home, with you in it, and then get picked up by another CarGozz driver.

AAA – Tipsy Tow Service is being offered by AAA. Call 1-800-400-4AAA for a free tow, up to seven miles.  Let the operator know you need Tipsy Tow. Both the driver and the car will be transported, and you don’t even need to be an AAA memeber.
